POSITIVE RAP
Being a father and a grandfather, I am
concerned with anything in society that influences my children or
grandchildren and all the children of the world. This includes the kind
of lyrics they hear when they listen, as all children do, to music.
Music is supposed to soothe the soul, but when the words advocate hatred
and violence I see nothing soothing about that.
For over a decade I have been writing
down my thoughts in rhyme form. When I showed them to my friend and
adopted brother, Sam, he told me, “Gregory, it’s time to share your
gentleness along with your frustrations with today’s society with the
world”.
“Besides”, he told me, “these would be
great lyrics for the rap music the kids of the world are listening to
today. Let’s post them in a section called Positive Rap on your
website.”
OK Sam, I heard you and I listened. I
trust that others will see in my words the thoughts I had and have in my
heart.
